Canteen/Ground duty

Set up, Pack up, Ground duty and Canteen instructions

Every team is expected to assist with the placement and removal of equipment, such as goal nets and flags, chairs, bins, etc  before and after games and to assist in running the canteen and providing a ground official.

The canteen helps our club keep our costs as low as possible and assists with the payment of referees fees, field hire fees, lighting/electricity bills, purchase of uniforms, balls, equipment and end  of season presentation for our junior players.

The Coach or Manager will be advised when their team is rostered for ground duty.  It is their responsibility to organise parents for the roster,  A pro-forma blank roster can be downloaded from here to assist coaches and managers in organising times for each parent to assist.

Setting Up

From 1 hour before first game.

This task will need as many players / parents as possible. Please be there at least an hour before the first scheduled game as it can take a while and be prepared to set up nets, goals, flags, chairs, bins and set up the canteen (canteen instructions below).

The nets and other equipment are to be taken out and set up by each team who will be using that field first on any given day.
  • All soccer equipment (nets, goals, pegs, hammers and corner flags) are kept in the equipment room
  • Bins are in the Bin bay near the carpark
  • Chairs are in the clubhouse change rooms
  • Signs in equipment room
The nets are fixed to the goal crossbar and posts with special clips or velcro.
Please ensure that nets are properly pegged down and no spare pegs are left lying around.
'Keep behind the line' lawn signs need to be positioned around the fields.

Pack up : removal and storage of playing equipment
Teams who are the last to play on each field are responsible for the removal of all equipment including nets, pegs, flags, chairs and bins.

If unsure each team coach or manager should check if their team is the last one using the appropriate goals on each pitch. Please do this before the game so that parents, carers and players can be recruited to assist with packing up.

When removing nets from goal frames:
  • ensure that the net is folded neatly and placed in the bags provided (2 nets per bag) to make it easier for the next team who needs to set up.
  • please double check that no loose pegs are left behind on the grounds.
  • clips are to stay attached to the nets or the goal crossbar.
This equipment is then returned to the equipment room and placed in the areas provided.  Chairs are returned to the clubhouse change rooms and bins to the Bin bay.

Ground duty
At least 1 parent needs to be Ground Duty official.
Ground Officials are different from Team Officials. Team Officials have a role with their team.  Ground Officials are looking after the interests of all people at the grounds that day. For more information about Team Officials see our FAQ’s section.

  • Assist the match officials in any way.
  • Try to ensure the Codes of Conduct are adhered to.
