U17 div 1 v Auburn District
Loss 17-1
Auburn are last
years district champions as well as FNSW Champion of Champions and State Cup
winners. They are a class above and no-one is going to come close to them this
season. 1st half we left holes in the midfield which they walked
through creating goals as they wished. 2nd half we pushed harder to
retain our shape and worked better defensively in the middle. We were unlucky
not to score when Seb’s chip shot over their keeper hit the crossbar. But
minutes later we were again on the attack and Cam’s neatly placed header found
the mark. We are the 1st team to score a goal against Auburn this
year. Take heart from your 2nd half performance and take that sort
of play into the next game and we’ll get better results.
O35 div 5 v Rouse Hill
Won 4-2
All Age Men div 7 v Winston Hills White
Draw 1-1
Ordinary 1st half, players turning up late or just in
time does not allow us to get off to a good start. We rallied hard and changed
our structure slightly and owned the 2nd half, scoring the equalizer
with Nath’s neatly placed shot, then pressed hard and were unlucky not to get
the winner.
Sun 6th May:
U16G div 2 v Winston Hills
Won 2-1
All Age Ladies div 4 v Ermington
Won 3-1
All Age Ladies div 3 v Castle Hill RSL
Won 2-0
Great game from every
single player. 2 goals to player of the match Ness but many more players had
good chances to add to the scoreboard (I suggest some shooting practice drills
at training). Lauren, Rochelle, Niccy and Lisa great in the backs gave CH no
chances. Mids worked hard on the big field and ran down every loose ball.
Forwards toiled hard against some good defence and just need a little work on
better positioning. The team is a pleasure to coach.
Round 2 catch up games played Sun 6th May:
U6 v Toongabbie C
U10 div 3 v Parramatta City
Loss 4-3
U16 div 2 v Dundas Won 4-0
What
a weekend. 2 games, two well deserved wins. Saturday against Winston Hills the
score was 3-1 with the goal credits spread between Jordon, Marcus and Nathan
and though scoring is critical the field play by all the boys was excellent.
If
anything I feel the boys played better during Sunday’s tussle versus
Dundas. It was a 4-0 drubbing. 3
from Jordon’s boot and one from his head.
In
a very busy game I could not name a player who did not have what would have
been labelled a “standout game” in bygone seasons. Where the success came from
was the wonderful teamwork. I lost count of the number of combination passing
passages in the games where 3, 4 or 5 players were involved. Many a time the
opposition was left stepping the wrong way or completely off balance. Our
defenders and newcomer keeper Matty excelled in, neutralising or deflecting any
attacking moves and putting Winston Hills on their heels.
In
attack, our opportunities where well constructed and the finishes executed
strongly and at times with panache.
Our
control through the mids was the hub for our tactical constructs and made the
transition from defence to attack smooth and often lightning quick, much to the
chagrin of the opposition.
The
completeness of our play cannot be overstated. I cannot recall having seen us
play where all the boxes were so profoundly ticked: Skill, Attack, Control, Defence, Stamina, Focus, Composure, Commitment, Desire, Belief
The
games were fast and entertaining. If this is an indication of what’s ahead I am
so looking forward to it.
Well done to all our boys and the coaches.
