Round 8 results - boys and men

U/6 v Culina Wenty Waratah Won 5-2

U/7 Aloisi v Aloisi Castle Hill United Loss 5-0

U/7 Neill v Bolton Castle Hill United Loss 3-1
Another tough day for the boys and girls. The first half saw Lucas make a lot of breaks but was unable to use his left foot again to cross the ball into the centre. We just could not get the ball into the back of the net even though we produced many opportunities. We went to the break losing 1-0. We began the second half with a quick goal that came from some great work by George and Ethan with George scoring the goal. The rest of the half saw both the opposition and us making lots of breaks but unfortunately the opposition was able to score and we couldn’t. Some great teamwork was displayed by Jordonn and George up in the forwards. Ethan also made some great defensive tackles to stop the opposition from scoring. It was also good to see everyone running back in defense when the opposition made a break. Player of the match went to Joel and the Encouragement award went to Ethan.

U/8 v Grella Castle Hill United Loss 2-1

U/9/6 v Guildford County Won 1-0
The score today doesn't reflect that we dominated the possession for most of the game. The backs cleared the ball quite well, we missed having our second striker today which didn't give Modassir anyone to pass to, he had to take on Guildford's whole backline on his own and finally managed to put a great goal in to give us a 1-0 win. Keep up the work at training.

U/10/3 v Lidcombe Waratah Loss 6-0
Not a lot of positive things to say about this game except that this was the best any team in the U10/3's has done against Lidcombe this season. The previous best was 8-1, and in the majority of games Lidcombe has been winning by 10 goals or more. We lost to this team in the grand final last season in extra time 1-0. They've improved this year, and have a few new players who are certainly helping as well. Our players will have to remember to jockey in defense and we'll be talking about marking a man before we meet them again later in the year. There were some great saves in goal by James and Alistair, and Jake, who replaced Alistair when he got injured late in the game. Jimmy, Alan and Brock were stand-outs - trying 'till the very end. Despite the loss our players should hold their heads up high knowing they didn't give up and look forward to next time we play them as a real challenge. We'll see if we can notch up a few goals of our own! - Brad

U/11/4 v Granville Waratah Won 5-1

U/12/5 v St Johns Won 4-2
What can I say? Today was another exciting game. You were passing well and talking to each other. Everyone had a job to do and most of the time you did it. Some exciting goals were scored and great defence. Good game Hayden (Man of the Match). Midfielders need to remember what Greg said… stay in the middle of the field, don’t migrate to the wings leaving the centre open. Every game there is improvement. Keep it up boys! A word of thanks to the wonderful, supportive parents and friends of the under 12’s. Your positive comments and encouragement, not only for our team but also the opposition, is commendable. It gives a great feel to our games. A special “Thank you” to those who assisted in the setting up of fields and running of the canteen throughout the day, it was much appreciated. Thanks, Janelle. Go for it boys, make it under 12’s year!

U/15/3 v Guildford County Won 1-0
Our first half today wasn’t real good boys, a lot of you just couldn’t get going. Second half was a much improved effort by everyone. Brad scored a sensational goal in the second half to put us 1–0 up from there we were able to hold. Competition leaders next week boys we need a bigger effort than was put in today.

Sen 3’s v Winston Hills White Won 5-0

Sen 7’s v Wenty Waratah Won 2-1

O/35/4 v Greystanes Won 2-1
SlowFox missed an easy one today so the 4-5-1 didn’t quite work and we had to give him another striker. Capt G scored his first goal from his boot (he’d forgotten he could score goals off his boot), and now claims he is going for both titles, Golden Melon and Golden Boot. But the highlight of the day was after Darks shot at goal (that was more like a pass to their keeper), and the Choker pushed aside his choker tag to score his first goal of the season with proud Mum sitting on the sideline. Choker you were very well behaved today with Mum watching. Player of the match today was the phantom who tackled Terminator and Capt G, but the best tackle was on Red-Face and right in front of the crowd, giving them all a good laugh. SlyFox must be leading the 40/20’s for the year, a couple more today. [‘When in doubt, kick it out’ – SlyFox] Quote of the day had to be from Supersoaker who reckons he could have saved the Greystanes goal if he was keeper and has even given the Terminator the all clear if need be to take their guy down in the box cause he will save the penalty. Keeper is away next week so Supersoaker will be putting his gloves where his mouth is for the double-header. Well played guys. (Courtesy of the Terminator and SlyFox.)

O/35/5 v St Josephs Loss 2-1
