Round 7 - Sat 17th / Sun 18th May
U6 Holroyd Black 6 def Holroyd Green 3
All of our Under 6’s continue to improve and are having lots of fun. This week a change of pace as our 2 teams played against each other. Waseem and Patrick were both very good and scored many goals between them. All of our players enjoy kicking the ball in and are learning to pass it. They all scored goals during the half-time goal scoring drill. Our kicks are getting stronger each week but we must keep watching the ball.
U7 Orange v St Josephs Won 1-0
U8 Blue v Rouse Hill Rams Won 3-2
U8 Red v Winston Hills Black Loss 5-0
U9 div 2 v Lidcombe Waratah Won 2-1
U10 div 5 v Pendle Hill Won 5-2
U11 div 2 v Castle Hill United Draw 0-0
Our team is coming together well considering being promoted from third division to second division. I think the players have realised it is a big step up and the game is a lot tougher. We have started off fairly well so far with two wins, two draws and two losses. All the games have been played in good spirit. Man of the match awards have gone to Brock, Daniel, Jesse, Chris and Jim with extra awards being given to some other players putting in an extra effort. Next Saturday we start the new round so hopefully we shall see plenty of improvement, wish the team some luck as they are trying very hard. Good luck kids. Coach Dave Hunter.

U16 girls div 2 v St Josephs Won 2-0
I am so proud of everyone in this team. Each week they go out and give their all without complaint. No subs today and very windy conditions made for a difficult match - our extra fitness training is helping us though. With everyone tiring late in the game our tackles and passes were a little weak – we need to stay strong and focus for the whole game. Great work in defence from Natalia, Rebekah, Danielle and Lauren. Emily used her speed well early to get us off to a flyer. A neat left foot tap beat the keeper and just trickled over the line. More chances later from Emily, Mel, Rochelle, Daniela and Megan should have seen us score a couple more – take the shot if you have space on the edge of the 18 yard box. Katelyn played superbly in the midfield making some nice passes. A nasty incident late in the game soured things a little. Natasha came back well to contribute to our 2nd goal and Megan made a nice pass across to Daniela who fired it home strongly. Great all round game from Daniela and a good attitude after the incident earned her the Player of the Match award. I say it every week - play to the whistle and play to our game plan. Another 1 or 2 players is urgently needed for our team.
AAL div 5 v Wenty Waratah Won 3-1
AAL div 2 v St Josephs Won 6-2

Round 6 match results
Round 6 - Sat 10th / Sun 11th May
U6 Black v Guildford Gold Loss 6-2
A good game played by both sides and all of our players played well. Amber and Waseem scored our goals and Fayez and Jesse made some good kicks. Keep concentrating at training and during the game.
U6 Green v PCYC White Loss 12-1
We played better than the score shows but PCYC have some very fast runners and they scored a lot of runaway goals. We attacked their goal a lot but too many of our shots just went wide. We will have to practise accurate kicking at training. We also need to spread out a bit more so we can pass the ball to each other. Good effort from everyone – Jamal, Jesse, Maddison and Waseem.
U7 Orange v Castle Hill United Black Loss 7-0
U8 Blue v Wenty Waratah Won 8-0
U8 Red v Castle Hill United Loss 5-0
U9 div 2 v Castle Hill RSL Draw 1-1
U10 div 5 v St Josephs Loss 5-1
U11 div 2 v Merrylands SFC Won 1-0
U12 div 4 v North Rocks Loss 5-2
U13 div 3 v Dundas Loss 4-1
U16 div 2 v Castle Hill RSL Won 2-1
O35 div 4 v Kellyville Loss 2-0
10 and a 1/2 players today was a struggle. Lame Fox did his job standing in the middle of the park. 1st half goal was a 1-on-1 with our new keeper. 2nd half goal was a shot off the post which fell back to their strikers feet for the tap home. Good first game from the new keep. Call of the day from Capt G after CHop took the ball on his thigh - "Watch the baby!". Capt G's diving header looked impressive but he couldn't quite connect with Darko's cross - when we left the ground the bulldozer was moving in to replace the divot.
O35 div 5 v Kellyville Loss 3-2
Senior 3 v Winston Hills Won 2-0
Senior 6 v Greystanes Won 5-0
U12 Girls div 1 v Castle Hill RSL Won 3-2
U14 Girls div 1 v Castle Hill RSL Loss 2-0
U16 Girls div 2 v Baulkham Hills Draw 2-2
10 players first half and an unofficial ref from BH with some dubious calls and our girls were rattled. BH had 2 breaks and converted both. We had several good runs forward and the shots either went wide or were stopped by their backs. A half time rally and we went out 2nd half to play our game regardless of what the ref was calling. An early through ball found Lauren S. who sprinted through and finished well. Soon after some great lead up work from the backs and through the mid-field saw us win a corner. Superbly struck and placed by Daniela near 3 of our girls and it was Lauren S. who touched home our 2nd. We kept trying to get the winner but couldn't convert one despite several close attempts. Excellent game from Natasha filling in the backs for us and great work in the middle from Daniela. Emily played well up front in the 1st half and equally well in the midfield 2nd half. Megan enjoyed her run up front 2nd half while Rochelle subbed for her in goals – both played well. 2 great goals and a superb game from Lauren S. Mel with great play at left mid and some super runs down the wing earned her the Player of the Match award. Much better play from us in the 2nd half when we settled down and played our game.

Our first competition point from a see-sawing game. Nice finishes to Mark with 2 goals, and Bill who was quickly on hand to clean up after their keeper fumbled, and Greg’s effort from range which the keeper dived over (how much did he pay their keeper to let his shot go in?). Brad’s shot from outside the box curled late to just miss the post. CHop got cleaned up by the phantom at least 3 times, and nice ball control with his 3rd leg. Nashy is now top scorer with 2 deflected goals.

The break with the washed out round 4 and the shorter training session did not help us. Today we looked flat and listless with few exceptions. I don’t mind if we lose as long as we play to our best, and today was not our best. We were too bunched and did not play the ball wide enough. Any runs forward had 2 or 3 of us running through but far too close to each other. Marking the opposition was severely lacking, we hung off the ball, and we gave them too much space and time on the ball. More talk on the field. CH are a very good team and deserved to win today. They and us will be the teams to beat in this competition. We can be competitive against them if we mark better, win and control the ball, and spread the ball wider. Good effort today from Danielle, Natasha, Mel, Lauren S. and Katelyn (player of the match). It’s time for everyone to step up a notch.
