Girls and Ladies

Latest news on the Girls and Ladies comps as outcomes from the monthly Association meeting held on Wed 22nd Feb:

In 2012 there will be NO Under 18 Girls comp.

There will be an Under 21 Girls comp and, for 2012 only, each team will be able to have up to 3 players that are turning 16 during 2012 - all other players must already be 16 of years of age or older up to 21 years.

Holroyd Rangers have several girls registered to play in Under 16 Girls and we will be pushing hard to get the extra players to make up an U16G team.

For any girls turning 17 or more, there is an opportunity for you to join one of our existing All Age Ladies teams.

Volunteers welcome throughout the day for canteen, ground duty, BBQ, etc.

U16 Girls Grand Champions!

Holroyd U16 Girls won their Grand Final 3-1 v Kellyville to be crowned Grand Champions! In very windy conditions a tense battle saw Kellyville score mid-first half against the run of play. 15 minutes into the 2nd half we equalized through a penalty kick. 2 more goals followed soon after to put us 3-1 up with 10 minutes to play. Coach Hopper said later he had faith all along the girls would get the job done. Well done to all the girls and the coach and manager. Great to see so many Holroyd supporters there to cheer our girls home. Congratulations girls.

Competition Tables

Congratulations to our U15s and U16 Girls teams - they have both secured the Minor Premiership in their respective competitions.  Well done to all the players and the coaches and managers.

Our U14s, Senior 3s and All Age Ladies 4s have also secured a spot in the semi-finals.

The U13s and Over 35s teams are both in with a chance to make the semi-finals, but need to get the right results in their round 18 games.  We wish them both well.

Our U6s, U7s, U8s, U10s, and All Age Ladies 2s will all play their last games for the season in their round 18 games this weekend.  We hope they enjoyed their 2010 season.

Very very disappointed in the team performance today, one of those games where a lot of the girls were not there at the game today.  Larissa was the coaches player of the match for a very solid display at fullback.  To our keeper of the day (my little girl) what do you say about that goal, don't need to say any more except the gloves are now hung up and retired.  We have a lot of work to do girls, the holiday is over.  Coach

Keen to avenge our first round 1-0 loss to St Micks we came out fired up and soon went ahead with a couple of quick goals. Another before the break and we were comfortable, but perhaps sat back too much 2nd half and St M came at us strongly. They scored through a penalty then we got 1 more to put the game out of reach before they grabbed a late 2nd goal. All in all we played well but took our foot off the pedal in the 2nd half. Sun 27th June:

Very tough, hard fought win today.  2 great goals by Sarah P., great save by keeper Shayley from a direct penalty, some injuries as well.  Was a super team effort today, every team seems to be coming after the leaders and your response over the last couple of weeks has been fantastic.  It’s a tough month ahead girls but if you show the courage, determination and enthusiasm you showed today there will be no stopping us.  Very proud of the effort today.  Coaches player of the match was Sarah L. who stopped wave after wave in our last line of defence.  Coach

An eventful 1st half saw us 1-1 at the break. Some argy-bargy between players almost proving our own undoing. 2nd half we settled and played good football, passing well and placing our shots to good effect. Well done Tony in goals and thanks to Mladen for reffing. We can beat any team in this comp if we cut out all the arguing and other crap, so why do we keep doing it?

U16G div 2 v Rouse Hill Rams Loss 2-0
Our 1st loss of the season and the most proud I have been of the team this season. Top of the table clash we started with 10 then had to play with 9 for about 15 min when one of our girls was taken out. I had to drag my daughter Cassie out of her sick bed to play which I was so proud of, she did it for the team and the coach / dad. We had injuries and some other sick girls. I’m going to mention the 10 of you, it was a super effort, and 2-0 down at half-time you outplayed RH 2nd half. Well done Cassie, Courtney, Cleo, Kacey, Kaylah, Sarah L, Sarah P, Shayal, Simone, and Susan.

All Age Ladies div 4 v Wenty Waratah Won 7-2
After the previous days thrashing the Ladies 4 went into this game determined not to make the same mistakes. Straight away you could tell the difference because we were passing and not blindly kicking the ball anywhere. Placement of shots on goal were really good. An example of this was Claire's curled shot into back corner of the net. Congratulations to Mel for her first goal. Di, Tammy, Lauren and Nicki K defended well against some fast strikers. Everyone played well but Bec and Mel had outstanding games and this was reflected in player votes. Players of the match were Bec, Nicky P and Mel. Scorers were Nicole P, Vanessa, Claire, Mel, Rochelle. (Stand in coach JN now retiring with 1 win from 1 game)

PC bottom of the table and playing short and with injured players proved to be cannon fodder for us. Their goalkeeper made numerous valiant saves but could only do so much. Plenty of us getting on the scoresheet (although JN still couldn’t manage it) including a wonder strike from Pasta Dom. Injured Don tried hard to stay in goals but handed over to Singh for the 2nd half and PC chipped him with a neat free kick.

Players away today and a couple of sick girls, one of those games where we didn’t play too well as a team. We did fight hard in the end to fight for a draw. Coaches award today goes to Simone who had a great 1st half and played in goals 2nd half when no-one else would. Coach

Not much to say except when we play a passing game we do a lot better. We've beaten this team before and could have done so again but were not switched on.
All Age Ladies div 2 v Beaumont Hills Loss 2-1
We had the pleasure of watching the Ladies 2 play this match. The ladies played a good passing game and made many good approaches to goal but luck wasn't with them on the final shots. Goalie Kristen made some really great saves and Jackie was dogged in her determination to get the ball. Good to see Jade using her head. Bec was unlucky not to score. Kim, Lauren and Sarah were solid in the midfield making good use of the field to create chances. New players to the team are fitting in well and everyone is contributing with well thought out passing and supporting each other.

Great game girls. Next one will be a win! (John and Lisa)

U16G div 2 v Lidcombe Waratah Won 9-0

Some very good individual performances today, Sarah P. & Simone
were great in both scoring hat-tricks, Cleo scored her 1st goal
of her career, Renea chipped in with 1 & Sarah L. after letting
loose from her sweeper position & giving her a run in the
midfield scored a great goal.  Well done girls nearly half way
through the comp & we are now 6 points clear sitting nicely on
top of the table.  We have to keep improving & getting better
each week for the run home.  Well played team. Coach

All Age Ladies div 4 v Dundas Won 2-1

A great win against the 2nd placed team.  Sherrie got their
keeper upset & put her off her game.  2 nice goals from
corners - Ness with a volley & later on Tammy a left footer
from distance.  Dunnies upset at losing but hey we got the
3 points.  Excellent games from Di & Niccy K & Megan great
in goals all game.  Lisa enjoyed the run in midfield.

A horrible game with numerous early chances going just wide or over
the bar.  Failure to mark up properly gave RH uncontested shots at
goal from the edge of the box and they placed them very well. 
Megan took out their striker in a one-on-one.  Good games from
Rochelle and Natasha.  A frustrating game to watch.
