Lights, action, . . .

A bright start to our Holroyd Rangers 2012 season with 6 new light towers going up at our home ground at Guildford West Sportsground.  Two of the new light towers can be seen in the picture on the right.

Work started last week to install the 6 new light towers, which will bathe both of our 2 main fields in 100 lux of light.  Holroyd Council are arranging the installation of the lights and these new facilities are as a result of funding from both Holroyd Council and a NSW State Government grant.

The installation of this lighting gives us the minimum required light levels to allow us to play night games if required. If the summer rain continues into the soccer season we may need to play mid-week catch up games and these lights will allow that to happen at our fields if needed.  It will also benefit our teams on training nights as both fields will be lit uniformly across all fields, eliminating dark spots.

It is expected the lights will be fully operational by the start of the competition at the end of March.   Once these new lights are operational the four existing light towers will be removed.
