Congratulations to the Matildas - winning the Asian Cup Final after a 1-1 draw (5-4 penalties).

Congratulations to the Matildas! The Australian womens soccer team last night defeated Japan 1-0 in the semi-final of the Asian Cup. This puts them into the Asian Cup Final, and also means they qualify for the World Cup in 2011 in Germany. Well done girls!

Rangers players flag bearers at Matildas game
Eleven Holroyd Rangers players were flag bearers at the Matilda v Italy match on Saturday 31st January at Parramatta Stadium.
The game, a 2 all draw was very exciting with an seemingly impossible shot from Lisa De Vanna off her left foot curling into the top of the goals.
Fittingly, Cheryl Salisbury, in her last game added to the score with a penalty shot. With nearly 3000 people at the stadium the atmosphere was fantastic and no one minded the heat. After the game the players were generous with their time in signing balls, posters and shirts for the kids.
