Round 13 match results

Sat 28th / Sun 29th June

U/6 Holroyd Black v Guildford Blue
U/6 Holroyd Green v PCYC Red

With players away sick and some that did turn up also sick we used all 7 players in both games and rotated them as subs. Both games were well played with many goals being scored by both teams. Waseem and Patrick both scored multiple goals. Amber went close but overran the ball, and Jamal and Jesse both pulled off some great tackles. Maddison battled bravely until she went home sick and Ahmad continues to improve.

A good game played in good spirits. The past 2 games we've scored plenty of goals but need to strengthen our defence if we're going to be competitive. Fox was hoping to get on the score sheet with a nice strike from outside the box that went just wide - we won't talk about the one off the melon . . . [Courtesy of MrAliB]

AliB you scored with no good luck charm. It was good to see our midfield & forwards getting a chance on goal for a change. I think our stand-in keeper Eddie the Big Bottomed Wombat needs to stay on the park & just use his feet. Hopefully our number 1 keeper is back on Sat & Sun. Mr Hop played his first full game for 8 weeks & looked like he was going to explode. When is he having that baby? He’s been preggers for 10 years now. [Courtesy of Slow Fox]

1st half we looked pretty good, creating lots of chances, but just could not score. Emily had a couple of breakaway runs but their sweeper kept enough pressure on that the shots went wide. Late in the half Mel had a tap in from close range but lifted it just over the bar. BH responded with a goal right on half-time. Obviously the half-time talk did very little as BH scored again soon after the break and then bundled in 3 more. Only the BH goal struck from range over Megan’s head was a shot of any quality, but we still allowed the other 4 goals to go in. Our goal was a late consolation when Mel neatly placed her shot into the corner giving their goalie no chance. Too many of our passes went to BH players instead of ours. We did not use the width of the park and ended up bunched in the middle, stifling our free-flowing play and preventing us from playing through balls to our strikers. BH got the ball in front of our goal and we sagged back and did not clear it, allowing them to score most of their goals from scrambles in front of goals. Learn from this girls – do the basics well and good things happen, mess up the basics and it’s a struggle. A good first game from our new player Heather. Rochelle put in a good performance in the midfield and later at centre back to earn the player of the match.

AAL div 5 v Baulkham Hills Won 2-1

AAL div 2 v Lidcombe Waratah Won 5-2
