Round 6 results - Boys and Men

Bleary eyed blogmaster apologises for a few score errors this week. Thanks to those who let us know - good to see it is being read. Scores have been corrected.

U/6 v VIDUKA North Rocks Loss 7-1

U/7 ALOISI v POPOVIC Wenty Won 4-0

U/7 NEILL v ALOISI North Rocks Won 5-1
Match report: This week we returned to our normal game and the final scoreline showed that. The players started to play in their correct positions and they reaped the rewards. Some great forward play was shown by Ethan, Rayaan and George. Our goalkeepers Lucas and Nikolai played well and Jazmin, Billie and Jordonn played well in defence. Player of the match went to Billie and the Encouragement Award went to Jazmin.

U/8 v SKOKO Kellyville Loss 3-0

U/9/ 6 v Kellyville Won 2-0
Match report: Todays game we had to shuffle a few positions around due to Sam being out injured. The team played fairly well to come away with a 2 nil win. Guys we have to remember to keep our feet on the ground when we do a throw in .Keep up the hard work at training and these small errors will go away. Vicki (Coach)

U/10/ 3 v Baulkham Hills Won 5-2
Match report:An excellent early start game for our young Rangers this week. Despite being 1-0 down early on we never really looked in trouble after we found the equaliser. Some really good passing from every player. It's nice to see that everyone is starting to look up when they have the ball for someone to pass to. Some good defensive play from our fullbacks and great attacking runs. Three goals to Alistair this week (one from a penalty), and one also to Alan and Cameron, who is fitting in well in his new position as striker. Some players still need to try getting to the loose ball first, and if you miss a tackle, don't give up. Keep chasing and you'll get them! Three wins and one loss now should have us somewhere at the top of the table - a great effort considering we have moved up a division this year and that we have some new players who have never played before. Brad

U/11/ 4 v Wenty Waratah Won 1-0

U/12/ 5 v Lidcombe Falcons Won 2-1
Match report: In this game we should have had the advantage. They only had 10 players but you wouldn’t have noticed because their players were passing well and covering our players. I seem to remember hearing how some of you were going to show the girls how to play… mmm. Our game wasn’t consistent, despite having possession of the ball the majority of the time, we did very little with it. There were some examples of good accurate passing, and then other times we were kicking to the invisible team members. As Greg says you have to want it; you have to want to get the ball into the net, you have to be determined when you kick the ball that you’re going to achieve what you set out to do. The big white rectangle at the end of the field is the goal area; remember... that’s where we want the ball to go. The goalie can only be in a small part of this area, instead of aiming for him, let’s aim past him. Clean throw ins, accurate passing and crossing, first to the ball and determination. Some excellent defending from Mark (Man of the Match) saved the play on many occasions. Overall, we can play much better than this, you are capable of passing and attacking with accuracy so let’s see it. Can’t wait for next week’s game, GO HOLROYD!!!! (Manager’s viewpoint)

U/15/ 3 v Auburn District Won 6-3

Match report: For 20 mins today boys we were on fire, I'm not sure what happened to the other 50 mins. We did score some great goals today: Brad 3, Matt 2 , Aaron 1.Well played to Matt, the coach gave you instructions at training which you followed and result 2 goals for yourself . Mark, Hopper , Matt and Brad were my standout players today . Some final words from the coach, some positional changes were made today. Without even consulting me, the result cost us a couple of goals. Lets play the game boys and leave the running of the sideline to Mick and myself. Coach.

Sen 3 v Greystanes Draw 1-1

Sen 7 v Greystanes Won 2-1

O/35/4 v Baulkham Hills Loss 1-0
Match report:
A lot of injuries at the moment and the bare 11 was a struggle today. Would have been nice if our strike force put a couple away out of the 45 shots that they had. The backline will set the nets up for the next home game hung from the baseball club house roof, that's where most of the shots ended up. The phantom was back today and tackled our centreback. He stumbled followed by a lunge followed by lets stick the boot out for the ball on his way to eating some turf. You beat Terminator's - yours had a bit of a twist with a double pike with a degree of difficulty. Not a bad team effort today, we were up against it from the start. (Courtesy of the Terminator.)

O/35/5 v North Rocks Loss 1-0
Match report:The game of the round for us against North Rocks. It was a hard fought battle and one of our more testing games so far. We had plenty of shots at goal but couldn't get the ball between the posts. A lucky goal to North Rocks in the first half was the only goal scored. Some good performances by Gerry, Chris and our joint man-of-the-match holders Lippo and Don. It was our first loss of the season but it was not our worst game. We still seem to be ball watching and waiting for the ball to come to the player. A lot of our kicks are speculators and our games do not reflect our training sessions. North Rocks certainly know their home ground and how to play it. They have come a long way since we beat them 10-0 on that ground several years ago.

Presidents Cup

On Wednesday night 16th May, Holroyd Rangers entered the Ladies President Cup knockout competition for the first time. A mixture of players from the two all age division 4 ladies teams and the U/16’s team formed the team, with their first game kicking off at Masonic School grounds, Baulkham Hills. With not much notice, no opportunity to train together, and no experience in this competition they went onto the field with enthusiasm and energy. At half time we were 5-0 down. It was testament to the girls’ spirit and energy that the second half saw them only concede one goal to make the final score 6-0. They were up against a well resourced Division 1 team and did themselves proud especially in the last ten minutes with concerted attacks at the oppositions’ goal.

Thanks to the players: from the Ladies White: Fran, Di, Kristen, Bec; from the Ladies Black: Debra, Krystibelle, Rebecca, Antonella, Sarah and from the U/16’s : Kim, Sandra, Donya, Pia and Sue-Zanna. Thanks also to the parents/grandparents of the U/16 girls for their support on the night and to Mark for bringing all the equipment and his coaching knowledge.

Round 6 results - Girls and Ladies

U12G v Baulkham Hills Won 1-0
Match report: A very entertaining game today with two evenly sided teams. We started off very strongly with a good move down the right side which was in turn crossed into the penalty area where Courtney hit it well which went through the keepers hands & then rolled to the goal line only to unluckily stop on the goal line. A couple of minutes later Simone put a nice ball through for Chloe who beat the defence with good speed & ball control & then slotted it nicely into the bottom corner of the net. After that goal BH really started to play well but the girls defence today was outstanding with Nez, Simone, Beth & Sarah playing a great defensive game. At 1/2 time it was 1-0 & a very even game. The second 1/2 was much the same with Shayal, Vania & Danielle working hard in midfield helping out in defence & attack. Up front Courtney, Hayley, Reg & Kirstyn really applied a lot of pressure & it was good to see improvement from Kirstyn & Georgia & seeing Hayley getting back to the form she was in at the end of last year. In the end it was a very hard fought win with every girl putting in 100% especially Chloe & Sarah making some goal saving tackles near the end of the match & with Karly in goals keeping everything out & coming off her goal line confidently discharging the BH attack. Also nice clearance kicks. A really pleasing result. PS: I hope manager Sarah enjoyed her Mother's Day drink!

U14G v Lidcombe Loss 9-1

Very disappointing 1st half, we need to mark our partners at all times or they will score 8 goals, as they did. Luckily they didn't score more. We also need to attack the ball when defending, not run along side and watch the opposition run with it. Big improvement in the 2nd half, drawing 1-1, thanks to some good goalkeeping from Megan. Goal scored by Daniella.

U16G v Winston Hills Won 4-0

Match report: An overall sloppy game by the standards that the girls had set throughout the year to date. The first half resulted in too many mistimed and misplaced first time kicks which simply did not find their marks. Having said that, Sarah and Sandy combined well for Sandy to take a well executed shot for her first goal of the year. 1-0 up was the half time score. After a half time rev up, the second half the girls played with a lot more entertaining style of soccer, pushing the ball around, accurate passing and holding possession and looking for players running into gaps. Sandy knocked in her 2nd and 3rd goals to give her first ever hat trick. And Sarah finally knocked in her most difficult shot of the game to give the girls a comfortable 4-0 win. Player of the match was no contest with Captain Sandy being the clear winner for other than scoring the 3 goals, for her tireless efforts, non stop running and general leadership. Kristan again played well in goals pulling off some great saves and the two Lauren's and Jade playing strong throughout. With my new found skills from my recent Coaching Course should bring with it a few interesting drills and challenges for training. (Look out!)

AAL Blk v St Josephs Won by Forfeit

AAL Wht v Castle Hill RSL Loss 2-1

Round 5 results - Boys and Men

U/6 v BOLTON Merrylands SFC

U/7 v GRELLA Ermington United

U/7 v BOLTON Merrylands SFC Loss 6-1
Match report: Today’s game was against a well organised group of kids that simply played better than us. The boys and girls tried hard as they always do, but we were unable to find the back of the net. This was partly due to some excellent saves by both their first and second half keepers. Even the large score line doesn’t diminish the fact that the kids have a great time running around and playing together. Both awards today went to players who showed tremendous heart and commitment during the game. Player of the Match was George and the Encouragement award went to Nikolai.

U/8 v WHT Castle Hill RSL Won 2-0

We played Castle Hill RSL and it was a great game. The boys played excellent with some great passing. This allowed Ahmed to score after some great lead up work from all the boys. Our defence was great in the first half thanks to Nathan Baker, Jeremy Ok and Saagar Gounder. In the second half it was much of the same from our boys as they rotated positions and played excellent as a team. Nathan Bampton playing his first full game on the field played well and slotted into the defence nicely in the second half. A great save and probably the save of the year so far from Kyle Murphy kept us in front 1-0 until late in the game when Leonardo Soto struck a free kick from far out and deflected into the goals. The final score 2-0. Well played by all the boys great work and keep it up boys. Man of the match Jeremy Ok.

U/9/6 v Norwest Demons Won 5-0
Match report: A very slow start today with at least 4 shots at goal that missed. Finally two shots found the net to lead 2-0 at halftime. Second half we played a lot better and managed to put another three goals away giving us a 5 - nil win. Goals scored today by Sam (2), Modassir (1), Mitchell D (1) and Jarrod (1). Keep up the good work guys. Coach: Vicki

U/10/3 Holroyd Rangers Bye

U/11/4 v Ermington United Won 2-1

Match report: The boys played well as a team. Goals to Matthew Higgins and Nathan Manning. Player of the match was Nathan Manning.

U/12/5 v Baulkham Hills Won 2-0

U/15/3 v Merrylands SFC Draw 0-0
Match report: Firstly well done to everyone on canteen and ground duty, we had plenty of help and support on the day. "Thankyou from Mick and Rob".
We have a great side here boys, with awesome strikepower at our disposal, great keeper, defence, everything we need to win the comp. Today was flat, no comittment, you lot didn't really want to be there today. We just haven't played anywhere near our best this year. If we didn't have super keep Jack, the table would have had us with the no 2 in the Loss column. We have to lift boys as a team, 100 percent from everyone we have, no excuses. On a positive note well played keeper Jack, and Brad who was my stand out player on the field today, the one guy who gave his all. Coach.

SEN 3 v Pendle Hill Won 4-0

SEN 7 v Toongabbie Won 1-0

O/35/4 v Dundas Loss 4-2

Our first loss for the year on the smallest ground in the competition. Pops Clancy chipped both himself and the keeper with a lofted kick taken facing away from goal. At the other end Capt G pretended he was goalie and Dundas equalised with the penalty. On came their super-sub to score their 2nd and then in the 2nd half to create 2 more (have to sit on him next round). But meanwhile Wombat got on the board for us with a follow up from Capt G's shot off the woodwork. At least we are sharing the goals around this year. Capt G played some chipped balls towards, across and over the goals and swears that the goals at Dundas are smaller than normal just like their fields. Chopper's thigh had stud marks (too much time laying on the ground in front of strikers) and Billy has sore ribs after being the meat in a Dundas sandwich. Too many players arriving too close to kick off time - we need more time to better manage positions, subs, tactics, etc.

· Coaches are not permitted to abuse or bully children under any circumstances.
· Complaints about coach behaviour towards children are to be treated as serious and appropriate action is to be taken.
· Club and coach focus should be on children enjoying the game, making friends and learning about football.
· The focus of rooball is not to win but to enjoy.

Round 5 results - Girls and Ladies

U12G v Beaumont Hills Loss 5-1
Match report: The score does not suggest it, but I was so proud of the way you played & fought today. Playing against a team today which was a very good team. We went up 1-0 through a good corner from Chloe, to which Simone then found the back of the net from close range. BH scored 10 mins later & then again just before 1/2 time. In the 2nd 1/2 we held them out well & nearly scored a few times through some good counter attacks. The game was only decided in the last 10 mins with 3 late goals.

U14G/2 v Winston Hills Loss 5-3

U16G/1 v Pendle Hill Black Loss 8-1
This game was against last years undefeated premiers and we knew that we were going to have a battle on our hands. The Holroyd girls kicked off and strung a number of great passes together down the left side of the field and Sarah scored a great goal from a tight angle. This is the first time that Pendle Hill has been behind in any game for over 2 seasons. This unfortunately only resulted in making them more determined and hungry for the ball. The Holroyd girls staved off quite a few menacing attacks through both good defence and good keeping. At the 20 minute point, Pendle Hill received a penalty which brought about the equalizer. Between that point and half time they managed to score another 3 goals for a half time score of 4–1. In the second half all the girls tried tirelessly, but were ultimately beaten 8–1 by probably one of the best under 16’s sides in the state. Although the score was not truly reflective of it, the girls were able to take a lot of positives out of the game. They can learn from the loss and copy a lot of the good qualities of the oppositions play and introduce it into their own. The girls are still outright 2nd in the competition. Player of the match was Pia although Kristen, Jade and Lauren J also had strong games.

AAL/4 Holroyd Rangers Black 3 defeated Holroyd Rangers White 2
Match report: There was a bit of friendly inter-club rivalry going on with our girls playing against the Blacks today. With both teams only having 12 players that day in the hot weather we knew it was going to be some work. Our team only had 9 players to kick off the match, with 2 on the way and 1 whose car wouldn't start. When it came to 11 on 11 with a reserve each that's when play picked up. We started out well but unfortunately our first goal was disallowed for offside. Then we came back strong putting 2 goals away from Alexis and Nicole P. Not long into the second half and an own goal by us started to dampen spirits. The Blacks came back with 2 more goals not long after to secure the win 3-2. But all in all it was a good game played by both teams. Don't forget about the cake stall next time we are at home in Round 7! Bring lots of cakes and biscuits so we can raise some money for the girls and ladies teams.

U/6 ELRICH Lidcombe Waratah v BOLTON Holroyd Rangers Loss 9-0

U/7 ALOISI Holroyd Rangers v CAHILL Merrylands SFC Won by Forfeit

U/7 NEILL Holroyd Rangers v BLUE Dundas Draw 3-3
Match report:This was a hard fought game that had the parents as well as the boys and girl excited. We got off to a good start with Lucas scoring another long range shot to put us 1-0 up. We then withstood lots of pressure from the opposition to produce some great defensive work and Rayaan made some great saves in goal. Being ahead at the break is good for us as we usually get stronger in the second half and Ethan didn’t disappoint with a goal early. After that I think the team went to sleep for a little while as Dundas came back at us and scored 3 goals to be 3-2 up with only a few minutes to go. I think it was after their third goal that the team woke up again and after many attempts buy numerous players Ethan finally sent the equalizer screaming into the back of the net. A draw was a good result but the team needs to keep playing the whole game and not have a little rest after half time. A great effort by everyone again this week which makes it hard to choose the winners of the awards. Jordonn got the Player of the match for his great effort especially in defense. Joel received the Encouragement Award for his effort against other kids who are much bigger and older than him. Glenn Betts

U/8 v BOLTON Merrylands United Won 4-0
Match report: A good first half from all the boys saw most staying in their positions. We kept the opposition deep in their on half for the entire first half. Goals were difficult to come by in the first half as Merrylands United players swarmed inside their goal area. Liam Murphy provided the team with our first goal. We led 1 nil at half time. In the second half the boys passed the ball around resullting in another 3 goals. Great work from Saagar Gounder and Jeremy Ok in not once letting the opposition around them. After some good lead up work from all the boys gave Kyle Murphy a chance and he cracked a great goal from about 20m out. Leonardo Soto scored our next goal with a great shot from a freekick near the sideline. Our last goal was set up by good team work from the boys and finished by Ahmed. The boys are now starting to play in their positions resulting in some good results for our team. This can be demonstrated by our goalkeeper touching the ball only once in this game. Man of the match was Saagar Gounder. Keep up the good work boys.

U/9/6 v St. Joseph Won 2-1
Match report:A very tough game today. St Joesph’s opened the scoring to lead 1 nil but the rangers fought back to even the score 1 all. Some great saves in goals by Mitchell G and William-Harley. The backs worked hard today to clear the ball out. A great run by Sam saw us take the lead 2/ 1.We were able to hold them out for the remainder of the game to take the win. Keep up the hard work guys.

U/10/3 v Pendle Hill Won 5-0
A great 5-0 win following our last match, where we went down to Kellyville 2-0, with all players contributing to the excellent result. Goals to Jake, Cameron (2), Alistair, and Shania, with her third for the year. Some solid defence from Brock, Josh, Josh and Korai, and two great saves from James Elliott kept Pendle Hill scoreless. James Morris did equally well in goals in the first half. The team really passed the ball well, held their positions, and showed plenty of commitment in the really warm weather. Well done also to Eliza! Keep up the good work team.
U/11 /4 Bye

U/12/5 v Kellyville Draw 2-2

U/15/3 v Granville Waratah Won 3-0
Match report:Not a great performance as a team today boys. I know it was hot, the ref was terrible, and they were very dirty around our ankles. Something we can learn from, these things happen at times, we need to put it behind us and play soccer. The coach will look after the rest. I have no doubt this team is semi final bound but we need to do this as a squad of 14 . Goal scorers Aaron 2 Matt 1 . Unlucky Matt, one shot you missed would have been the goal of the season if the ball hit the back of the net. We haven’t been beaten yet boys and I don’t think we have played our best as yet. All signs are very good. Coach: Robert Hopper, Manager: Mick Dolton

SEN 3 v Toongabbie Loss 2-1

SEN 7 v Norwest Demons Loss 4-2

O/35 /4 v Wenty Waratah Draw 2-2
Match report: Good game played in good spirit and in hot conditions. Capt G played as sweeper until Chopper arrived. We were 2-1 down, Chopper arrives 1 nil up 2nd half - not bad for the Hobbits / Meerkats. It was more like the tortoise v the hare as Wenty have a bit of pace up front. Darko scores ‘goal of the season’ (so far) off his left foot. Capt G scores goal 2 with a great header. Capt G is now leading the golden boot, or is he? The 2 goals he has scored are off headers (golden melon?). Choker failed to finish Capt G’s shot off the post which cost us the win. (Coach starts training his girls 5pm Wed so line up for shooting practice.) The phantom got Chopper from out of nowhere, but at least he is no longer on the only yellow, there are now 2, both dished from the same ref. (Match report courtesy of Terminator.)

Round 4 results - Girls and Ladies

U12G v Pendle Hill White Won 2-0
Well played girls. Our first win for the season. It is so pleasing to see you keeping your positions that you are told to play, especially the back four of Sarah, Simone, Beth & Nez who were so strong in defence. We started off strong with an early goal through a good pass from Simone to find Chloe who beat a player & finished it off with a good shot and scored. Our 2nd goal came from a planned corner we have been practising. It was a hard low cross which Courtney hit beautifully first time into the top corner. We then dominated for the rest of the game unlucky not to score more girls.
U14G/2 v North Rocks Won 6-0
Match report:
Excellent teamwork today, a lot of unselfish play. Led 1-0 at half time, than played well in the 2nd half to put 5 goals away. Goals scored by Rochelle (3), Renea, Daniela and Sheridan. Nice passing and calling throughout the game, still bunching a little, but we will work on that at training. Good defence at the back by Larissa, Rebekah, Cassie, Linda, Megan and Shayley. Good to see Renea and Natasha work out their centre midfield play. Nice game also from Emily with her running and passing. Not forgetting our 2nd half impact player swapping with Megan to come out of goals, well done Natalia. Also our little roving player Skye who seems to be everywhere on the field. Finally the Falcon Award goes to Natasha for her forgetting to duck when the ball was kicked at her. Peter (coach) and Tracey (Manager). PS: Don't get too complacent as the season is only young.
U16G/1 v Greystanes Draw 2-2
Match report: It’s amazing what a difference a bye and a lack of training (due to bad weather makes)! The girls commenced the game very flat, struggled to hold their positions and let the opposition dictate the mid field. Mary was every reliable in defence and Kristen prevented the opposition form scoring early in the game. Late in the first half the girls started to put their game together and were unlucky not to have scored through strong shots from Sarah and Sandy, only to be denied by the opposition keeper. Half time Nil all.
The second half, the girls came out with more intensity. Mid half, a goal mouth scrambles lead to a goal by Sarah to put the girls one nil up. Almost immediately after the kick, a defensive lapse let the opposition in to equalize. With 3 minutes left of play, Sarah got her second after a quick throw in down the right side, some scrambling in the penalty area and finally a well executed shot. Again, immediately after the kick off, and with only seconds on the clock and some half hearted defence, Greystanes managed the equalizer basically on the full time whistle. Final Score 2 all. Player of the match went to Sandy who never gave up although not feeling 100%. (Girls – if you want to have a chance at this competition who have to play as a team for the whole game and not just in patches as well as implementing the skills you are taught at training).

AAL/4 Blk v Guildford County Loss 3-1

AAL/4 Wht v St Josephs Draw 1-1
As each week passes you can see the improvement in the white team. The girls are playing with their heads up more, looking for passes rather than just kicking it. Good playing by all.

U/6 BOLTON v PURPLE Parramatta City Loss 6-1
Match report: This week we scored our very first goal of the season..... YAY!!! We managed to get the ball off Parramatta city using really good defence and Billy dribbled it down the field and kicked it straight passed their goalie it was awsome!! We were one man down on the field so everyone played a full game ... in the rain. Our defence in the first half this week was amazing and we had some great saves from our goalies Luke and Noah. Well Done guys great game!! Congratulations to our "Player of the Match" this week Billy for great defence and a great goal !!Coaches: Kristen and Robyn Lilley and Nicole Potts

U/7 VIDUKA v ALOISI Holroyd Rangers Washed out

U/7 NEILL v North Rocks Won 9-1
Match report: Today’s game was a friendly against an Under 8 side from North Rocks. Liam and Kyle from our U/8 side joined our team for the day so we could play 9 players on the field. The team played very good with everyone giving a 100 percent effort. The first half was a fairly close encounter with Ethan opening up our account mid way through the half and Lucas scored from a long range shot that got past everyone just before half time. At the break we where 2-0 up. In the second half the team just got better and better. Some great team work was displayed with the ball being passed between lots of players to set up some great goals. The final score was 9-1 with Ethan 4, Lucas 1, George 1, Liam 2 and Kyle 1. It is a pleasure to watch the boys and girls coming together as a team. The enthusiasm and effort shown by Jordonn, Billie, Joel and Nickolai also allowed us to have such a great win. The player of the match went to Ethan and the Encouragement award going to Lucas.

SEN 3 v Guildford County Won 7-0

SEN 7 v North Rocks Black Won 9-0

Match report: On what began as a very cold 3pm match on Saturday @ home became a fired up senior 7s effort, winning 9-0. At just 30 seconds into the first half of the match, Julz put a goal into the back of the net. A few good shots on goal by the boys and Julz put another goal in after another 15 minutes. At about 30 minutes Julz completed the hat-trick. Steve Greska scored at 36 minutes. We had a marvellous goal by Esky taken from a metre away from the corner to cap off the first half. Straight away wen we got back on the field Greska scored not even 40 seconds into play. We then had 2 goals disallowed by the referee and the game went quiet until the 80th minute when we had virtually back to back goals by Greska and Esky respectively. The 9th goal came at the 44th minute by Elvis and full time whistle was blown. A good result for the boys and we will hope to continue to improve our results.

O/35/4 v Lidcombe Waratah Draw 1-1
Match report: Tough game played in good spirit. The team was looking forward to the return of Superstriker only to get to the 15 min mark and he’s gone. We scored early and looked reasonably good. A great goal scored from Superstriker 2 who must have been inspired when Superstriker 1 left the field. A pass from Capt G with just a bit of work to do on the end of it. I’m sure the little stick man was put on the shin pad as assist #1 for season 07. The hotly contested golden boot is up for grabs. But Lidcombe lifted a gear and stayed in that gear for the rest of the game. They are a better side than last year, never stopped attacking, scored in the 2nd half and looked like scoring a few more but again the Wonder-keeper kept us in it and won himself the coveted blanket. Our fullbacks were under constant attack but as usual saved the day many times. Hoppy was going to explode he was that red in the face (does this personal trainer actually exist?). Capt G played with his hyperextendableextension arm fully wrapped, bruised from elbow to wrist. Stevo had a screamer at both ends of the park, unlucky not to score with a header late in the game. Fatso the wombat claimed he supplied the perfect ball for the goal but was he even on the park at that stage? Fatso must now be the leader for "falcon of the year". Chopper’s run late 1st half only to be clipped late leaving some work for the groundsmen to fill the large divot - at least had some support from Mrs Chopper defending his honour on the sideline (another code of conduct briefing needed for the chopper family). (Match report courtesy of Slow Fox and Terminator 69.)

O35/5 v Baulkham Hills Won 9-1
Match Report: A fairly lack lustre performance to start with but like a good wine we improved with age. We opened the scoring but Baulkham Hills managed to peg one back. We seemed to struggle for some time even with the advantage of fitness and youth(?). Dominic proved to be strong as sweeper and was equal man of the match with Dennis. Chris made some good strong runs from the back and scored a good individual goal that suprised everyone. Dennis top scored with 5 goals with Phil and Jack also scoring one each. Mick made a big difference in the mid field unitl he went off with an injury. The backs were certainly solid and kept the attacks out of the 18 yard box. Dennis went into the goals and gave Don a run in the forwards. The forwards worked well together and some good combinations eventuated. Dennis made a run as goalie to the Baulkham Hills goal for a corner. Gerry kept the back line strong and directed our efforts towards the 9-1 full time score.

U12G v Kellyville Loss 2-1

A game that slipped away from us. We started the game well creating lots of chances but unfortunately didn't finish any of them. Victoria started as striker for the 1st time using her speed to great effect. Kellyville scored first just before 1/2 time and again just after 1/2 time. Victoria's determination finally paid off with a good through ball from Chloe which Victoria ran well with and slotted it passed the keeper. With a bit more luck and more pressure applied to the opposition the wins will come. Karly was fantastic today in goals saving plenty of shots & breakaways & also to my surprise coming out and collecting corner crosses.

Match report: Great game played by all. Goal scorers were John, Stephen, Liam and Revell. Good passing by Sophie and Brandan. Top tackling Tait and Leah. Keep up the good work guys.

U/7 NEILL v KEWELL Parramatta City Loss 5-4
Match report: Our first game of the year after our bye last week and the boys and girls played really well. If we only had a few more seconds of game time we would have had a hard fought draw. As it turned out the final score was 4 goals for us and 5 for them. Rayaan received the player of the match for his good saves in goal in the first half and then scoring in the second half. Billie received the encouragement award. Well done also to Ethan and George for their goals.

U/8 v ELRICH Merrylands SFC Won 8-2
Match report:
The team played a very good game of soccer with Ahmed scoring 2 early goals followed by 1 from kyle Murphy to lead 3 nil in the 10th Minute. The opposition got 1 back after a little fumble from our goal keeper. A further goal from leonardo Soto seen the score at 4-1 at half time.
In the second half the team passed the ball around well resulting in another 4 goals to our side. The goal scorers in the second half where Ahmed 2 Leo 1 Nathan Bampton 1. The final score 8-2 to holroyd. Well done a great team effort by all the boys.
Keep up the good work boys. Coach: Shane Murphy

U/9/6 v North Rocks Won 13 - 0
Match report: Today the team played very well. Our goalies didn’t see the ball all game nor did the backs but I was pleased to see them still hold their positions in case it did come their way. It was also nice to see the passing of the ball between the forwards with Sam, Modassir and Mitchell D scoring multiple goals - well done guys - keep up the good work. Coach Vicki Paterson

Match report:Tough game today in very hot conditions, Good side Kellyville who will be there abouts at the end of the year. Missing a couple of players as well today .Down 1 nil at half time, Aaron scored a great goal in the second half, real team goal Daniel, Brad and Aaron finished . Everyone gave there all for the team today from keeper Jack who had a super game, Hopper 's great save of the line, Daniel was fantastic in attack and defence, every player did their part today .We are starting each game too slow boys, we need to be fired up and ready to go, a bit of a guessing competion why you can’t view any results . Great start to the season. Coach : Rob Hopper, Manager: Mick Dolton

SNR 3 v Castle Hill Won 3-1

SNR 7 v WHT Baulkham Hills Won 8-0

O/35/4 v Kellyville Won 2-1
Match report:
Very hot afternoon at Kellyville, always seems to be a physical encounter when we play this side ,Greg went down early busted his arm, to everyone’s supprise come back in the second half and had a great game , scored a very good header for goal 1 from a great pass from Hopwood. Muscy scores no 2 with a Direct Penalty. Kellyville get one back with a penalty outside the box , good goal scored . Good team effort today 1st 20 a little sloppy, we got going from there. Roso had another great game in goals. Good start to the season with a 1st up Draw, now a Win . Courtesy of the Terminator 69.

O35/5 v Norwest Demons Won 5-1
Match report: The 35/5s started out a bit slow with a full strength Norwest Demons drawing first blood. The score remained unchanged until a Norwest player stopped a cross with his hands which resulted in a penalty. Dennis opened the Holroyd account with a penalty which seemed to give us a bit more confidence. A short time later another goal went in and we seemed to settle into some better play. In the second half the goals kept coming which finished with a 5-1 full time score. Dennis scored three goals and Mick Borg scored two. Norwest had a strong attack which left us scrambling in defence at times. They have some fast forwards but some strong play by Lippo, Peter and Chris kept Norwest scoreless in the second half. There was some good passing and runs and we seem to be playing like we train.

U/12G Bye

U/14G v Rouse Hill Win 6-0
Match report:
Great 1st win.
Started to pass the ball around and run Rouse Hill around the park. Good use of the whole park and good game by Rochelle (5 goals), Renea and Natasha in the midfield. Also Linda and Shayley at the back. Keep up the teamwork and we will have some more victories. Coach: Peter Pike, Manager: Tracey Hopper
U/16G v Lidcombe Win 6-2
Match report:
On an extremely hot and sunny Autumn morning the 2007, they line up to do battle with the nemesis from last year’s grand final. The girls came out pumped up to revenge their last encounter. It was wasn’t long until Sarah made a fantastic run down the right side, drew the keeper off her line, and selflessly passed to our youngest member, Lauren S, for a well executed goal.
The girls are really coming together and playing as a team. This was evident from a number of passing sequences the Matilda’s would have been proud of. Several of these passages of plays from within our half, lead to Sandy, Pia, Miray and Lauren S combining together to send well weighted balls through to Sarah to hopelessly out sprint the opposition defence and leave their goalkeeper clutching at air as the ball went into the back of the net. An unlucky penalty and a goal mouth scramble let the opposition in for 2 goal goals before half time. Half time 4 – 2.
The second half was a much tougher affair. The opposition were playing for their pride and made a number of raids on the Holroyd goal. Strong defending from Kim, Jade, Lauren J and Monique as well as inspirational keeping from Kristen flaunted a number of dangerous attacking raids. Sarah finished off 2 more goals. Final score 6 -2. Overall, one of the best games the girls have put together and with continued consistency, they should do well in the competition. The “Woman” of the Match” award was hotly contested with Kristen, Miray, Sandy, Pia, Kim, Lauren S, Samantha and Vivien all polling votes. However with her 2nd 5 goal bag for the season Sarah was a deserving winner. Coach: Don Jordan.

AAL/4 Wht v Granville Kewpies Win 1-0
Match report:
The girls had a lot of confidence going into the match after last weeks great win. But were not looking forward to running around in the heat. The ladies had a good first half with a goal by Bec off her left foot. The second half was not so good with lack of fitness as well as the heat leading to scrappy playing by all.

he team played very well today considering we played the first half 2 players short then the second half 1 player short .It was good to see the new players getting in and making some good tackles keep up the good work. The result today was a 1 all draw if the referee had of seen the 10 meter offside pass which resulted in castle hill scoring we would have received the win these kids deserved today. We will get them next round guys . Coach: Vicki Paterson

U/10/3 v Wenty Waratah Won 3-1
Match report:
Playing in the middle of the school holidays with kids away is enough to turn a coach's hair grey overnight. With just 11 players for our first round match we were expecting a tough encounter. And it started off that way, with Wenty scoring a great goal. But after that our young Rangers came into their own, playing spectacularly well. There was plenty of passing of the ball, looking for team-mates to pass to, supporting each other, and general enthusiasm (much more than our last trial game the week before). James was fantastic in goal in the first half, saving some real beauties, while Josh, Josh and Laith in defence all had great games. In the mid-field Jake, Alan, Daniel and Alistair kept chasing the ball, and Alistair was rewarded for getting into the game when he deflected one into the goal just before half-time. Half-way through the second half Chris scored a great goal because he kept following the ball right into the goal mouth. Some strong defence by Josh Ryan again, and with 10 minutes to go the parents (and coach) on the side-line were just hanging out for the full-time whistle to blow. Excellent play from Cameron and Shania who both made some great breaks on their respective wings, and we had our first win of the season in our sights. A minute before half-time Alan took a free kick from just outside the box which deflected off a Wenty player for our third goal of the game and the sealing of the match. And what was wonderful to see at the conclusion of the match were out kids shaking hands with Wenty! Let's keep it up team!!! Coach: Brad

Congratulations to Richard Dolton on his first goal ,I give him 2 direct penalties last year for his chance which he missed . Worth the wait, from a corner he headed the ball into the back of the net . Goal scorers today were Richard 1 , Joseph 1 , Andrew 1 , Aaron 1 , Special mention for our Keeper Jack Knight for a sensational game in goals you will play a big part Jack for our march to the end of the season with that sort of effort . Round 1 - Sunday 1st April

Results from girls and ladies matches

U12G 4-2 Loss v Pendle Hill Blk
Welcome to the players & parents for another year with 4 new players Danielle, Nez, Vania & Victoria coming into our side. We started our first game without Karly our regular keeper & our backup keeper Simone was out with injured fingers so Danielle went in goals & for a girl who has never kept before did a great job & I would really like to thank her for that. This was a very good game with Pendle Hill being just that bit better on the day. PH scored first & then we equalised after a great run by Simone passing the ball to Chloe who beat a girl & then finished it off with a great shot. Unfortunately we let PH score just before the 1/2 time whistle. In the 2nd half PH scored another 2 goals through some good work by their very good striker. The girls never let their head drop and continued to play well with Victoria making a great run down the right side, cutting in, then beating the keeper only to be bought down & earning a penalty which Courtney finished off confidently. The game finished 4-2 loss with all the girls playing well and the new girls fitting in really well.

U14G 2-1 Loss v Kellyville.
Match report: Good effort by the girls for their first game. Need to concentrate more on the field and stop bunching up. More concentration also needed at training.

U16G 8-0 Win v Pendle Hill Wht
Match report: Firstly a warm welcome to the newest members of the team, Kristen, Pia, Monique, Mirna, Miray, Suz-Anna and Vivien. On a warm and sunny Autumn morning the 2007 finally kicked off. The girls started the game all fired up, and keen to start playing. This was event from the very first kick off where the girls put together 8 unbroken passes and nearly scored. The Holroyd girls clearly had the run of play for the first 10 minutes, and were unlucky not to score on a number of occasions. After a goal mouth scramble one of newest and youngest girls, Miray, scored her first ever goal. Soon after the restart, Miray scored her 2nd ever goal in much a similar manner as her first.

The third goal will go down as one of the goals of the year (In any level of soccer). The Holroyd girls got a free kick 10 metres out and to the right of the penalty area, when Sarah calmly steps up, bends, the ball around the wall straight into the top left of the goal. The rest of the half the Holroyd girls dominated play with several “near” misses, Sarah scored another and the girls went to the break 4 - nil up.

The second half was much the same as the first, lots of missed opportunities where the girls clearly dominated the game with opposition that may struggle in the top division. Sarah scored three second half goals before earning a well earned stint in goals. Donya scored her first ever goal from a volley out side the box and then calmly lobbing the ball into the top right corner of the net (must be all the hard practice).

This week's “Woman” of the Match award was awarded to Sarah for an impressive 5 goal performance. Special mention to Monique for her very reliable performance in the backs. Sandy and Kim for great general all-round play and developing leadership abilities and to Kristen for having a faultless performance in the goals. Miray for her 2 goals and tireless attitude and the rest of the team who all tried their hardest throughout the game.

AAL Wht 6-0 Win v North Rocks
Match report: The first match of the season was not looking good for the whites with 3 girls away, 1 moving and 2 injured in previous trial matches. But the injuries had healed for the match. The passing skills of the girls seemed to impress the sidelines which kept the teams spirits high. Good goals from Sherrie, Kristen, Sarah and newbie Alexis which led to the end score of 6-0. Special thanks to Sarah and Jade from the 16 girls who helped out in defence and attack. Good luck for the season to all female teams.
